Writing

In Memory of May is text I wrote for ArabLit.org on the occasion of their new English translation of May Ziadeh’s writings.

Available to read here.

Postcards from the Orient is a film by Sis Gurdal. She commissioned me to write a piece of spoken-word poetry to accompany her film.

“A surrealist re-imagining of Orientalist artwork; a subliminal retelling of the colonialist, western male gaze and its hyper- sexualised representation of Middle Eastern femininity.”

The Summer I Learned to Lie is a short comic I’ve written and illustrated by Lucile Gauvain. It was published online and in print in The Believer Magazine.
